Boler Nirvana Nelson BC
For reasons that can’t be fully explained, the city of Nelson BC is home to a disproportionate number of Bolers and other little fibreglass trailers from varied manufactures. Case in point here, three of the former and one of the latter, and a rare one at that, found while driving about the community in search of fun and adventure back in September 2018. All of these were literally within blocks of each other. And I bet there were a lot more not all that far away, down streets unvisited just waiting to be discovered. Till next time.
Seen are three thirteen foot Bolers, a little more common and iconic than their seventeen foot brethren. One of those, tan in colour with beltline stripes is a late model example, so from the 1980s. They only started using this paint scheme about that time (mostly on seventeen foot models).
The yellow Boler shows a “b-1300” on the door. Only a small number of these that we’ve seen have displayed this model number in this way. While we’ve not found anything to prove this colour was from the factory in any company documents, we’ve see more than a few done up in this eye-catching shade (BIGDoer colours!), so we suppose it must have been so. But then Boler production records are spotty at best. The stylized small b Boler markings also make it a late model, although some folks claim to have ones going as far back as the 1970s showing this. We suspect in error. Earlier Bolers used a metal badge verses a sticker like this.
And a rare beast and only some seventy clicks or so from where it was made, in or around the City of Trail (accounts differ), is a boxy Carefree. That big swooping C on the front is a dead giveaway. These were manufactured in the 1970s, presumably in small numbers. We’ve only seen a handful and recall, we’re always out on “Boler Patrol”. If more were out there, we’d have seen them. That’s some good points in the Boler Spotting Game for this one!
No matter how you slice it, Nelson is Boler Nirvana.

Boler: A small cute-as-a-bug fibreglass travel trailer made in Canada in the 1970s and 80s. We make a fun game spotting them on road trips and adventures. We also include other similar trailers here, those from other manufacturers who are close in appearance or configuration to Bolers.
