Mercury Meteor & Matching Boler
Some times we just randomly wander older neighbourhoods in search of who knows what. It seems these communities always offer up something interesting to take in for us, and what ever it may be, we’re happy. There might some old building or church that captures our imagination, unique or vintage cars and now and then a little fibreglass camper or two. And here, in the community of Inglewood (a place we frequent often), a couple cool finds, a vintage British Roadster, and jackpot, a restored ’60s beauty pulling (get this) a matching Boler. Listen…that’s the sound of our head exploding. We’ve reached Boler Nirvana and nothing will ever be the same.
While we’ve explored this neighbourhood before, these are both new finds. It pays to revisit these places more than once.
The little bug-eyed beast is a Triumph TR3 (second generation, so often referred to as a TR3A) a model built between 1957 and 1962. While stylish (and so cute..and so small), we hear that reliability wise, they just didn’t cut it, and that they handled difficult Canadian conditions poorly. Winter and cold, wet, road salt are just some of the car-killers here. Must be fun barrelling down the highway amidst all those humongous little-car-stomping F350s. Still kudos to the owner for keeping this one on the road in spite of all the challenges.
And comes the magic, here all shiny and looking spectacular, a 1963 Mercury Meteor and the most wonderful little trailer that it pulls. Now that’s camping in style! Check out those red velvet curtains…and fuzzy dice! It’s perfect. The gleam on both is so deep and intense that if the sun were to hit it, you’d be blind for sure. Hands down this is one of the best Car/Boler combos we’ve ever seen.
Now we can die happy.
The date of these finds was October 2018.
The evening before…
Retro Service Stations: Lakeview Husky – that vintage vibe.
Boler: A small cute-as-a-bug fibreglass travel trailer made in Canada in the 1970s and 80s. We make a fun game spotting them on road trips and adventures. We also include other similar trailers here, those from other manufacturers who are close in appearance or configuration to Bolers.
We’d love to hear from you: contact us!
Now that’s camping!
You took the words right out of our mouths. Yes, doing it in style!
Fantastic! My uncle had a similar TR4a.
I knew someone is school whose dad had one too. He was always working on it as I recall – and swore a lot at it, but still seemed to love it too.
The best Boler and car combo ever!
We seen many fine Bolers with matching Cars (or is that many fine cars with matching Bolers?) but this one’s a real standout. Awesome!
