We dodged another bullet with this random pick and had we been one frame to the left, youâd be viewing a less than flattering image of a certain photographerâs feet. Oops, pressed the shutter by mistake! I donât even want to talk about the frame to the right. Anyway, these random photos are just that, stuff pulled from the archives entirely by chance and shown in all their glory. We never intended to share these particular ones and shot them for ourselves, yet here we are. Presenting the Magic School Bus.
This old ride was sitting atop a flat deck for transport, which might suggest itâs a candidate for some kind of restoration. Or maybe itâs off to the scrap yard? Either way, it brings back a flood of memories of riding one like it to class. The bus body here is mounted on a truck chassis, as is typical, and the grill tells us this Chevrolet is a 1961 model. Talk about a face only a mother could love!
It appears complete mechanically and overall is not in bad shape. Some new glass, new paint and youâre good to go.

Short Subjects: reports that are short and sweet in nature. Itâs stuff interesting enough in itself, but not deserved of the full on BIGDoer.com treatment. Think silly little snippets, vignettes and likewise things of that sort and youâll be in and out in no time.
We're never playing disc-golf in Wanye (AB) again! Who ever designed this course was a sadist, but at least it comes with a view. Hope you all like it.
Most holes at the Badland's course are on the edge of steep precipices & overshooting is a frustrating affair. It means minimally, an expedition level recovery effort to retrieve a disc, or the risk of losing them all together. We've found some while searching for ours.
The terrain here is anything but flat and takes no prisoners. Then there's the wind. And heaven help you if you if it just rained - that Drumheller area mud when wet is slipperier than Teflon.
Ca 1911 - there's something in the water in Didsbury Alberta - & 2025. That's the Liesemer House, with a row of ladies & baby carriages out front. Some 15 or 16 in total. At the time the town had a population in the hundreds.

~90 years apart! This disused highway bridge is along the Red Coat Trail in SW Saskatchewan.
- The inset shows it under construction in the mid 1930s, in a reverse angle photo from the far side. - Our Then image is thanks to the Swift Current Museum - please pay them a visit when in town. - This one of many bowstring bridges in SK, built in the 1920s-1930s. Slideshow! A roadtrip with J Crossley in and around Nelson BC, 1954.
Where do we start? There's the tug Grant Hall, the Canadian Pacific's Nelson shops, downtown Nelson looking all pretty, the Tillicum Inn in Balfour (the Dock n Duck sits there now) plus, the ferries Balfour and Anscomb. Wow!
Crossley shot on Kodachrome (bless his soul) & this film is well regarded for its vivid colours, and stability. This fellow spent a lot of time in the West Kootenay region & we'll share more as we go.
We've yet to ID the church, nor do we know the location of the park (Nelson waterfront?). Perhaps some readers will know...
