Fiber Stream

Fiber Stream? Never heard of them…until now that is. While back alley cruising (doing weird things again) we fully expect to come across a Boler or maybe a Trillium, but every now and then it’s a rare gem as happened here. We’re looking at a trailer that until this discovery was unknown to us and by all accounts a rare beast. And here we thought we knew it all.

Fiber Stream trailers were made in California and while in production for over a decade (from 1975-1986) it seems output was quite low. These differ from most made of fibreglass as the body is a single piece whereas a Boler, for example, was made by joining a top and bottom half together at the beltline. Ditto for Trilliums or just about any other you can name.

Coming in at sixteen feet (so 4.9ish metres), it’s equipped with dual axles instead of a single, as was commonly applied to other makes of this size. By the specs it doesn’t appear to be an overly heavy, as might be expected given the set up, so who knows.

The location: A random Calgary alley. The reason: Do we need one? Okay, we hunt Bolers and back lanes are where they hang out. The date: May, 2020. Opinion: It looks like an oversize loaf of bread. Bonus points for rarity: One BILLION.

That same weekend…
This is Champion Alberta – A little walk about town.

Boler: A small cute-as-a-bug fibreglass camping trailer made in Canada in the 1960s to 1980s and we make a fun game spotting them on road trips or adventures. We’ll also include similar trailers from other manufacturers that are close in appearance or configuration to Bolers.
