K-Line Mark 1
We’re looking at a rare breed of little fibreglass trailer and get this, it was spotted maybe thirty clicks from its birthplace in Red Deer Alberta. The location is a town just south of that central Alberta city, and this a completely random find. There we were just driving by (fall 2020) and out of the corner of our eye, this extra-special discovery. Presenting a K-Line Mark 1 with pop-up roof and it’s awesome!
There’s not much info on the K-Line firm, so we don’t know how many were made or if there were different models. We’ve only ever seen one before (link below) and it too was a Mark 1 (the one was missing, but it otherwise looked the same). We previously stated these trailers were from the early 1970s, but an online search suggests they may have started producing them late the decade before and perhaps into 1973-1974(?).
Either way, production didn’t last long and given the paucity of information out there, they’re uncommon. If we were keep score, this one would be worth mega-points in the Boler spotting game.
The rear door and pop-up roof is rather unique in this class of trailer. There was a make from the US of the era, very similar in appearance to this example, called a Hunter and certain models shared these features. Otherwise we don’t recall any others that did. Given the two firm’s offerings were so close in design and appearance, we wonder if there’s some kind of connection.
