Random Pick: Massage – Lics – Lubetown
Massage – Lics – Lubetown: a photo pulled completely at random from the archives, be it good or bad, and presented here in all its glory. No, our subject is not something dirty this time, even though it sounds like we’re headed that way, but the names of three businesses within sight of each other along one Calgary street. For those of us who’ve never grown up, it’ll make you giggle.
The location is Calgary’s Parkdale neighbourhood and along busy 3rd Avenue. Massage: that’s self explanatory. Lics: an acronym for Levitt’s Ice Cream Shop, an institution in this neighbourhood since the early ’80s. Lubetown: where your car gets an oil change. It’s simply a group of businesses in close proximity, with names that when put together sound funny.
Smart Mart was a traditional corner store, but it had permanently closed prior to our visit. A new business has since moved in.
Random picks work like this…
We close our eyes, literally, and choose a previously unpublished image from our extensive library and post it here. Since lazy us never deletes any photos, even the atrocious ones, means it could be an out of focus shot, an accidental snap of our feet, or something horrible and flawed in some other way. Or embarrassing (so far we’ve dodged that bullet). A lot of pictures we take are for us, for fun or whatever, and I’d say this one fell under that category. It’s not a bad photo but needed a bit of context. Enjoy.
