Shelter Bay Boler (+ MV Columbia)
Shelter Bay Boler: here’s a little fibreglass trailer discovered in the Columbia-Shuswap region of British Columbia and a little south of Revelstoke. It’s seen at a landing while waiting for and later onboard the MV Columbia Upper Arrow Lakes ferry. The water crossing is otherwise too wide for a bridge and so this ship remains an important link in the highway’s system out this way.
Taking the ferry means slowing down and depending on traffic, you might eat up an hour or two to get across. There’s the wait for it to arrive and then a good twenty minutes to get across once in motion. If one’s in a hurry it can be frustrating, but we find the whole experience rather relaxing. Read more about the Columbia here: BC Inland Ferries β Columbia and Arrow Park III.
This general area is a Boler and kin hotspot and over two days here we documented at least five or six of these little campers of differing makes (but mostly Bolers). That’s pretty good. They come fast and all one needs to do is get out and explore. Spotting two in a single weekend, out Calgary way, is an event, but here it’s nothing. The date is Summer 2021, and we’re out doing what we do best – that’s searching out history.

Boler: A small, cute-as-a-bug fibreglass camping trailer made in Canada in the 1960s to 1980s period and we make a fun game spotting them on road trips or adventures. We’ll also include similar trailers from other manufacturers that are close in appearance, construction or configuration to Bolers.
