Smoky Times on Deerfoot Trail Calgary
Catching a Boler in motion out in the wild does not happen often and requires luck on your side. They’re elusive foes at the best of times and when it plays out it’s by random chance. The stars have to align. Today was just such a day and here’s one spotted while cruising Deerfoot Trail under smoky skies. Don’t recall where we were going, or why, but this spotting is easily remembered.
That haze comes thanks to forest fires elsewhere on the continent and prevailing winds. For weeks on end in the summer of 2021, it hung heavy in the air and painted everything a dull, dull, dull grey. Except at twilight when the sky turned bright orange and appeared as though it too was on fire. See: Smoky Times on 17th Ave SW Calgary.
The Boler captured today is a more common thirteen foot variant and the style of the logo tells us it’s a later model. Maybe late ’70s or early ’80s. It’s hard to think of camping in these sorts of conditions but perhaps they were going to give it a try.
From the same card dump…Serendipity @ The Rock (Frank Slide), On the Job: ’73 Kenworth W925 and Catonio’s Groceteria.
Boler: A small, cute-as-a-bug fibreglass camping trailer made in Canada in the 1960s to 1980s period and we make a fun game spotting them on road trips or adventures. We’ll also include similar trailers from other manufacturers that are close in appearance, construction or configuration to Bolers.
