Bee2Gether Boler

We’re at “The Forks” in Winnipeg, a former rail yard now a large multi-purpose outdoor and recreation themed venue. There’s farmer’s markets, museums, historic sites, biking paths and on, with many unique and interesting events held throughout the year. Looks like a fun place. And it’s ours to explore while on layover from Via Rail’s Canadian which we’re riding cross country, a recon mission in anticipation of a “breakout” commissioned piece we’d be doing about this very train, that went horribly, horribly wrong (link below).

Got a couple hours to burn so let’s wander about. And what’s that? Over there? Got love that colour…yellow is where it’s at. That’s one mighty fine Boler, easily an early to mid-1970s model (we know account the metal badging – later ones used a sticker). It’s used as a rolling office for a firm called “Bee 2 Gether Bikes” who rent single or multi-person pedal powered bikes and side-by-side conveyances for those wishing to take in The Forks and area, along with a buddy or two, on wheels instead of feet. Interesting business idea. Damn nice trailer too. They rent Bolers for camping too.

In the 1970s your author, who lived not far away, could often be found hanging around the rail yards that used to be here. Strange place for a kid but even then raw and gritty places were a thing, a passion for which remains to this very day. Looking at the watch – time to go – the call of the rails. All aboard! And soon it all falls apart.

While on this adventure…
Crazy Times in Coach, on Via’s Canadian.

Boler: A small cute-as-a-bug fibreglass travel trailer made in Canada in the 1970s and 80s. We make a fun game spotting them on road trips and adventures. We also include other similar trailers here, those from other manufacturers who are close in appearance or configuration to Bolers.

  1. Every time we visit the Forks and I see that Boler I think of you guys 🙂 The Forks is one of our favourite places to visit in Winnipeg!

    • Thanks for thinking of us. It’s such a strange obsession we have. And to think we used to drink wine under that smoke stack just behind the Boler.
