Bored to Tears Boler

Here’s a random Boler discovery found during a social distancing, in-Calgary, bored-to-tears Covid lockdown walkabout. About the time of the first wave (so early 2020, yes we’re terminally behind in posting) we’d pick the most unlikely places to walk, to lessen the chance of bumping into too many people. With everyone on edge, this seemed the best plan of action and most of the time we saw no one else and even few cars. There was a real Omega Man vibe there for a while.

Most of these outings took us through industrial areas (total ghost towns at this time) with occasional forays into residential neighbourhoods. There was really no destination in mind during these and the goal was to simply keep active and not go stir crazy from sitting at home. In this regard it worked and kept us grounded. With this the Boler brings a smile in an otherwise miserable and troubling time. Thinking of summer now, and camping, here with winter’s icy grip still holding tight. Picture being on the road, adventure in the cards and Covid but a memory. A person can dream.

Then down the street a message of hope scrawled in chalk on some driveway. There’s a “we’ll get through this” sentiment and while Covid has hung on to present day, there’s now a light at the end of the tunnel. Who’d have known back then the time and toll this soul-sucking pandemic would take. The date is March 2020 and we’re somewhere in the south end of Calgary (we didn’t keep notes).

Boler: A small cute-as-a-bug fibreglass travel trailer made in Canada in the 1970s and 80s. We make a fun game spotting them on road trips and adventures. We also include other similar trailers here, those from other manufacturers that are close in appearance or configuration to Bolers.
